The Hennepin County GIS (Geographic Information Systems) open data site offers GIS data to the public free of charge and without need for a license. This site provides the ability to explore, view, share and download data.
To find and view data, either click on a data category below, select a dataset from the "View all datasets..." button on the left side of the page, or type in a keyword in the search box at the top of the page. Once a dataset is selected, data can be downloaded in a number of different formats or filtered for a more refined dataset.
If downloading the data, it will be necessary to have software installed on your computer that can read the type of file that you are downloading. The spreadsheet download is tabular data and will be accessible with most spreadsheet or database applications. The shapefile and KML downloads are spatial data formats that may require GIS or comparable mapping software to view. For users that do not have GIS software but wish to view spatial data, an interactive map viewer is provided at the top of each dataset page. The Hennepin County GIS Office also provides various interactive mapping applications as another way to access this data.
Note: Sometimes data downloads may be unavailable from this site, particularly with the larger datasets. We are working to resolve this issue. In the interim, the most commonly requested datasets, including address points and parcels, are also available for download from our backup site.
Please let us know if you have any issues using the application, questions about the application or data, or have suggestions on how to make this application more useful.
